Harry J. Smith Jr.
Harry opened his law office in 1960 after receiving his law degree
from Loyola University in Chicago. In addition to the Illinois state bar, Harry is currently admitted to the bars of the United
States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit,
and the United States Supreme Court. In addition to his 50 years in private practice, he has served as a Justice of the Peace,
Magistrate of the Circuit Court of Cook County, corporation counsel for the Village of River Grove, and counsel to the Board
of Fire and Police Commissioners of the Village of Schiller Park. He also served as an Illinois State Representative for the
As a trial lawyer, Harry has tried numerous cases to verdict.
His experience and success as a trial lawyer provide him with the insight to offer invaluable advice and counsel to his many
business clients on a variety of legal issues. He presently serves the Village of River Grove adjudicator and as outside general
counsel to a number of successful mid-size businesses in the Chicagoland area. Harry concentrates his practice in the areas
of civil litigation, real estate, land use and zoning law, and business law.
Bart A. Smith
After graduating cum laude from the University of Colorado,
Bart received his law degree from the IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law with high honors, and was admitted to the Order of the
Coif. He is currently admitted to the bars of the State of Illinois, the State of Michigan, the United States District Courts
for the Northern District of Illinois and the Eastern District of Michigan, and the United States Court of Appeals for the
After law school, Bart served as judicial law clerk to the Honorable
Robert E. DeMascio in the United States District Court in Detroit, Michigan. Thereafter, he practiced with the Michigan law
firm of Hardy, Lewis & Page, where he concentrated in labor and employment law, regulatory issues before the National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration, commercial litigation, school financing and corporate law.
Since returning to Illinois in November, 1991, Bart has served as the
firm's managing partner. His practice is concentrated in the areas of business law, estate planning, trust administration,
and probate matters. He has handled cases at both the trial and appellate court level. His background and experience have
proved invaluable in providing advice and counsel to his business clients in a variety of diverse areas including trademarks,
trade secrets, commercial transactions, wrongful discharge, discrimination, and both business to consumer and business to

In addition to his legal work, Bart is involved with a number of civic
and charitable organizations. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Triton College Foundation and is the Treasurer of
the River Grove Lions Club and two local political committees.
Marjorie A. Manchen
Margie received her law degree from Northern Illinois University. She
graduated cum laude from Western Illinois University where she majored in Law Enforcement Administration, Political Science,
and French. She is presently a member of the bars of the State of Illinois and the United States District Court for the Northern
District of Illinois.
Prior to her legal career, Margie was a Senior Claims Adjuster for
one of the nation's largest property and casualty insurers, and served in that capacity for five years. She also obtained
extensive experience as an investigator and security supervisor while employed by a private investigation firm in Illinois.
The skills she developed in these professions, before becoming a lawyer, have assisted her greatly in her practice.
Margie served a clerkship with a major insurance defense law firm and
the Executive Office for the United States Trustees within the United States Department of Justice, before practicing in the
Winnebago County State's Attorney Office. Thereafter, she was a founding partner of O'Donnell, Grady and Manchen. Since joining
the firm in July, 1994, Margie has focused her practice in family law.
Andrew R. Kopczynski
Andrew recently passed the Illinois Bar Examination in November, 2010. He started
working for the firm as a law clerk while attending Loyola University's School of Law. He will concentrate his practice is
the areas of estate planning and probate.
